Hello :)

About_1.png
a freelance digital product designer with nearly five years in the design field, based in India and collaborating remotely with teams near and far.

I work with businesses at different stages, from early ideas to fully realised products, supporting them through research, creative direction, UX and UI design, content structure, system design, and, where needed, building on no-code platforms such as Wix Studio or Shopify.
I am Sowmya,

Okay, shall we continue?
Oh a small confession!
I’m camera-shy. Hence, just this modest bobble-head with my real face. The illustration above serves as my decoy :D

However, I didn’t begin my career in design, nor did I come from a plush multi-degree design background. What brought me here was my passion for creativity and innate analytical ability. Today, I design apps, websites and interfaces that balance business goals and user needs.

Today, I bring that balance of structure and sensitivity to every project

In 2020, amid global stillness, I explored a dormant dream of becoming a designer, with a bit of hesitation. Soon, I realised that much of my training in finance, systems thinking, analytical reasoning and attention to detail, had already shaped me for this field!

To Layouts

About_2.png
I was neck-deep in financial ledgers, analysing balance sheets, auditing companies and training to become a Chartered Accountant. That experience taught me how to navigate complexity, value precision, and approach problems with creativity and logic.
Before sketches and wireframes, there were only ledgers and spreadsheets!
My journey into design began in what many would consider the opposite of creativity: Finance.

From Ledgers...

What began as self-learning soon turned into structured courses and mentorship under senior designers. Those experiences opened the doors to freelance projects, collaborative work, and the gradual shaping of my craft. Thrpugh it all, the analytical foundation never left; it simply found a new canvas.

I believe that, at its best, design doesn't draw attention to itself. It simply makes things easier to understand, use and trust. That is the kind of work I aim to do!
That’s enough about me for now. Let’s talk about you, your business, and what you’re building.

And, that's all about me. Now, let's talk about you and your project!
Both pursuits keep me grounded and endlessly curious, reminding me that good design, like good art or literature, is simply about observing deeply and crafting meaning with care.
And when I’m not sketching, I’m reading, anything from design theory to fiction to history, letting different worlds and ideas intertwine. If I weren’t designing, I’d probably still be doing just this: reading, drawing, and noticing how stories and spaces shape the way we see.
Drawing, for me, is a quiet meditation. I’m particularly drawn to intricate architecture, the kind that reveals its beauty through structure and detail. Perhaps it’s no surprise; the same fascination with form and order that guides my design finds expression in every line I draw.
When I’m not designing, I’m usually found with a pencil or a book in hand.
